Join World Innovators to Shape the Imaging Eco-System and Generate New Value in the Virtual Space!

As one of mankind’s most important means of expression, imaging technology has driven the evolution of human knowledge. Printing of images has continuously expanded into new areas, with digital printing technologies not only marking on media, but moving into the 3D, and even 4D, domains. The imaging eco-system, a collective term that melds all the aspect—digitization, materials, processes, output—of digital printing allows us to bring an idea, image, or object to fruition.

Imaging technology is at the forefront of our current data-driven society and continues to evolve. While the adverse effects of COVID-19 restrict the movement of people and objects, information can be freely accessed. Despite such challenging conditions, technology development must proceed, and the synergistic effect of information exchange and the resulting acceleration of innovation must continue. This year, we have decided to hold an online conference.  Printing for Fabrication 2020 will be a dynamic, interactive, online conference with live Q&A/discussion sessions and virtual networking. Recent progress in mature and leading-edge imaging technologies will be presented by experts from around the world, complemented by a short course program.  We will explore a broad range of applications, including 3D, packaging, industrial, and textile printing as well as printed electronics and life sciences.  Please join American, European, and Asian imaging innovators as we lead the evolution of the imaging eco-system in the virtual space in 2020.

While the physical space is currently dominated by COVID-19, we plan to take back control in 2021 and meet in person in Japan!

MOVE TO ONLINE
To meet the needs of the digital printing community
during these pandemic times, IS&T is pleased to announce that Printing for Fabrication will be held as an online meeting this year. It is being decoupled from ICAI and CIC; the originally planned joint meetings are now scheduled for October 4-8, 2021.

Submission deadlines for 2020 have been extended to allow those who were uncertain about attending the meeting time to submit.

In addition to Technical Sessions, Print4Fab 2020 will offer a full Short Course program—and with no funds needed for travel, approval to attend courses and the conference should be easier to obtain. We look forward to seeing you online!

History

Held for the first time in 1981, NIP became an annual conference in 1988. With the exception of the first year when it was held in Venice, Italy, and 1993, when it was held in Yokohama, Japan, NIP has rotated to various cities throughout North America.

Prior to being spun off into a "stand-alone" collocated meeting in 2005, Digital Fabrication was a technical session within NIP. Held for the first time in 2005, it has been an annual conference ever since.

Scope

For more than 30 years, NIP has been the leading forum for discussion of advances and new directions in non-impact and digital printing technologies. A comprehensive, industry-wide conference, this meeting includes all aspects of the hardware, materials, software, images, and applications associated with digital printing systems, including drop-on-demand ink jet, wide format ink jet, desktop and continuous ink jet, toner-based electrophotographic printers, production digital printing systems, and thermal printing systems, as well as the engineering capability, optimization, and science involved in these fields.

Digital Fabrication explores the potential of digital printing technologies with sessions on new applications and materials that go well beyond traditional printing. Digital fabrication techniques have been used for biomedical applications, as well as to produce MEMS and new electronic devices. Conference topics include 2D & 3D functional printing and micromachining; digital fabrication instrumentation; ink jet printing processes; laser patterning processes, direct-write, and integration in printing manufacturing lines; process materials and substrates for digital fabrication; nano-patterning and imprint technologies; prototyping technology; printed sensors, photovoltaic cells, lighting devices, biomaterials, architectural components and electronics and devices; and industrial and commercial digital fabrication.
